I am an internal medicine physician, former White House Fellow and National Clinician Scholar, who practices clinically at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
As a first-generation Ethiopian-American from Los Angeles, I am committed to advancing health equity and justice for vulnerable individuals and populations. My body of work amplifies these voices through narratives, mixed-methods, and community partnered participatory research to impact healthcare delivery innovation that addresses social determinants of health.
I attended the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA/Charles Drew University PRIME-LA dual-degree program, completed Internal Medicine residency, and served as Chief Resident of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
